ANIMAL WELFARE COLLABORATION
PHOTOGRAPHY FOR ADOPTION & ADVOCACY
A volunteer photography collaboration with the Animal Welfare League of Alexandria — using the camera as a tool to help animals find loving homes and amplify the shelter’s mission. Every image tells a story worth sharing.
The Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) is one of the region’s most dedicated open-admission shelters, working tirelessly to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need. I connected with AWLA through a shared passion for animals and a belief that compelling photography can directly impact adoption rates.
This was a purely volunteer effort — no commercial contract, no formal arrangement. I donated my time and skills because I believe in the mission. The goal was simple: help these animals look their absolute best so potential adopters could fall in love before they even walked through the door.
From shelter portraits to event coverage and candid moments between animals and their caregivers, every shoot was a reminder of why this work matters. Great photography drives engagement, shares the story, and ultimately gets animals into homes faster.
Clean, warm, and expressive portraits of adoptable animals designed to connect emotionally with potential adopters browsing online listings and social media.
Photography at adoption events, community outreach days, and shelter activities — capturing the energy, heart, and people behind the mission.
Edited, optimized imagery ready for use across AWLA’s website, social channels, and fundraising materials to support ongoing adoption and donation campaigns.
A NOTE ON THIS WORK
All photography for AWLA was provided on a fully volunteer basis as a creative collaboration — donated time and skills in support of a mission I genuinely believe in. This is not a formal nonprofit arrangement, and I am not a registered nonprofit organization.
I do this work because animals deserve great photography, and because organizations like AWLA deserve the same quality of visual storytelling as any commercial client. Giving back through the craft is simply part of who I am.
If your organization does mission-driven work and you think photography could help amplify it, I’m always open to a conversation.
If you’re doing meaningful work and need photography to help tell your story, reach out. I’m always open to conversations about creative collaborations.
